Villa Rosa, two pine trees at risk of collapse cut down – Teramo

MARTINSICURO. After the sudden and disastrous fall, last June 19th in broad daylight, of a pine tree approximately 20 meters high on the roadway of Via Don Sturzo in Villa Rosa, which damaged three parked cars, the road was closed to traffic and two more sick specimens have been culled.
In order to protect public and private safety, the Truentino Municipality has contacted an agronomist specialist to verify the stability of the pine trees present in the street. The person in charge went to the site immediately to examine the remaining specimens in Via Don Sturzo and shortly sent his report to the Municipality. Two more Aleppo pine specimens were found to be diseased and at high risk of falling. For this reason, the Teramo firefighters were alerted and already yesterday they made the town and the public road safe by cutting down the two plants found to be dangerous. The agronomist’s first check was conducted partially, while yesterday tensile tests were carried out on the specimens still standing, in order to make the most appropriate decisions in respect of the tree specimens, but above all to protect public and private safety.
Furthermore, until the completion of the verification activities on the stability of the remaining plants, the Municipality has ordered the closure of the road, without prejudice to its opening to local traffic in cases of absolute necessity.
