Last appointment before the summer break for Solidarity aperitif: June 26th at 6pm but in a new location, the Red Devil in Piazza San Martino. The host association will be Aza which manages the municipal kennel.
The initiative
«Solidarity aperitif» is the initiative promoted by La Nuova Provincia, Associazione Objective Monferrato and the Volunteering Service Center of Asti-Alessandria to give voice to the varied and important world of volunteering: a convivial afternoon with the dual objective of making the public aware of broaden the activity of the voluntary association and at the same time give a small signal of solidarity, offering the proceeds of the aperitif (cost 10 euros, of which 5 go to the Association).
The program
It will be a meeting to explain what the Asti kennel is and what its volunteers do: «Volunteers who have been working hard in the daily management of the structure for years. It is not the role they play within the association that is important, but their love. the commitment and availability they provide 365 days a day.”
The event will open with the screening of a video to learn about the reality of the kennel in Quarto. This will be followed by a chat in the company of volunteers who tell the story of the Aza and the stories, sometimes real adventures, of their four-legged friends.
What does Aza do
Aza has more than thirty volunteers and two part-time employees. The list of tasks and availability of the Aza is long and detailed: the volunteers take care of the guest animals on a daily basis (there are an average of 70 present), the therapies prescribed by the vet, the “unwalking” in the designated areas, the reception of the public, the updating of the site and the Facebook and Instagram channels to promote adoptions, and also the pre-reliance and post-reliance control, the management of suppliers, the execution of small maintenance works, the keeping of registers including arvet (regional canine registry), maintaining relations with the Municipality and the ASL veterinary service.
«Our structure is municipal and not private – explain the volunteers – so we can only welcome animals recovered wandering in the territory of the Municipality of Asti. However, we can collaborate with people in difficulty by publishing on our website, among the appeals, ads with photos of dogs looking for placement. It is however necessary that in the request for help the dog’s details, tattoos/microchips are indicated, and the owner’s name and surname, place of residence and telephone number are indicated”.
How to help the association
Donations can be made to the current account: IBAN IT85 G 08530 10300 000000060640; or one-off donations (free offering); you can go directly to the kennel where the receipt will be issued or to the stand during the market (under the Anfossi arcades); it is possible to donate supplies of basic necessities such as dry bread, cans and kibble, blankets, brooms, dishwashing detergent, bleach, black 80×110 rubbish bags, collars, leashes. The adoption of a “box” is also envisaged with the cost of 13 euros per month; in this way you can contribute to supporting the dogs present in that box.
