«He had just turned 21, originally from the province of Salerno, he would have finished serving his sentence in May 2027, but he decided to end it last night around 10pm. hanging himself in the shower of his cell of the Paola prison. He is the 49th inmate to take his own life since the beginning of the year, to which must be added 5 officers who also committed suicide, the latest yesterday afternoon in Favignana. The immediate help from the prison police and health workers was of no avail.”
This is stated by Gennarino De Fazio, General Secretary of Uilpa Penitentiary Police. The person who took his life was a young man from Sala Consilina.
