Rimini, new safety works after the flood a year ago

The hydraulic safety works on the crossings in via Consorziale, via del Poggio and via Buonanotte will begin in September, a work that is part of the program defined by the Municipal Administration following the flood events of May last year.

The meteorological phenomena that hit Romagna and which also affected the Rimini area to a lesser extent, have in fact highlighted the need to intervene on the sub-road structures in correspondence with the three roads in the Rimini hinterland.

In today’s session (Tuesday 25 June) the Rimini City Council approved the executive project of the three interventions, financed for approximately one hundred thousand euros through the order of the extraordinary commissioner for reconstruction in the territory of the Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Marche regions.

In detail in via Consorziale we will intervene through extraordinary maintenance and strengthening of existing works, to restore the correct flow of water from the Barigello ditch and guarantee hydraulic safety. The intervention in via del Poggio consists of an improvement in the current flow conditions of the water coming from the Rigardara pit (under the responsibility of the Romagna Reclamation Consortium), through the construction of a new pipeline.

The work is published in via Goodnight consists of extraordinary maintenance and strengthening of road crossings to reduce the risk of flooding, improve the flow conditions of water coming from the Colle di Covignano slope and contribute to the hydraulic safety of the road through the laying of three new pipes.

Overall, there were six interventions for the restoration of roads and road infrastructures for which the Municipality of Rimini requested funding from the commissioner structure, for a value of over 2 million euros. In addition to the works in via Consorziale, via del Poggio and via Buonanotte, work will begin in September on via Marignanoin the Sant’Aquilina area, worth one million euros.

However, the restoration and safety works have already been carried out and completed Via San Paolo, Of Via Tavernelle, of cycle-pedestrian paths within the XXV Aprile park and those present along the docks of the Canal port.

“In September we will start the last interventions among those identified and planned following the reconnaissance carried out last year after the flood events – underlines the councilor for public works Mattia Morolli Works which not only allow us to restore some damage suffered due to the intense meteorological events of those dramatic days, but which allow us to continue planning widespread works designed to improve accessibility and overall liveability of the innermost areas of the city” .
