Alessandro Agostinello, from the goldsmith’s shop of the same name in the centre, vents on social media: “These people do this every day and no one says anything”

VITERBO – New attack in the historic center, this time against a well-known trader who chose to vent publicly on Facebook about the story he experienced firsthand on Friday, in the historic center.

This is Alessandro Agostinello, a well-known goldsmith and owner of the goldsmith’s shop of the same name located in via Cesare Dobici, close to the Shrine, the “hottest” area from the point of view of the presence of uncontrolled petty crime.

“5/6 between foreigners and Italians with two dogs on a leash who frequent the shrine area every day with beers always in hand, they are out at my shop – says Agostinello – As I was closing I noticed that they were staring, and I had to throw away the bag of the unsorted waste, right where they were, I could have left it near the shop, but it’s not where I always leave it so I go towards this group and leave the bag. Immediately they start to say that I had to take the envelope away, and I tell them that that’s where I’m leaving it… one (Italian) challenges me in the face, he was obviously high on alcohol and I don’t know what else, but he gets taken away from a black boy who was with him telling me to go and he’ll take care of it.”

The story continues. “I go to get the scooter, and it throws the envelope in the middle of the street, shouting at me that I had to take it back, coming towards me. I do the same and we start to argue, suddenly he gives me two slaps, the first one I took, the second I didn’t… in the meantime the same black boy ran to take him away while the others came to help the other… but the only one lucid boy asks me to go seeing the others with the dogs who were coming down”.

The trader, exasperated like many others in the area, speaks of “Ordinary madness”. “These people – explains the entrepreneur – do this every day and those who live or work nearby know well that they are always free. Sorry but when I hear about urban daspo I smile, recently I also saw the fight with lots of investment (the one at the Shrine, which according to the mayor Chiara Frontini “could have happened anywhere”, ed.). I think the time has come to think that this is no longer good, at 54 years old I’m not happy.”

“Yesterday morning – concludes Agostinello – people who have known me for 40 years and who work nearby told me they had seen everything. Point. end. They didn’t take a step towards me, not to start a fight, I can understand the fear of facing these people, but not even to scream or pretend to call the police. Well, for me this is much worse than what happened because if we want things like this not to happen we have to take the first step by rejecting these idiots all together, but obviously until it affects you closely it’s better to mind your own business, not knowing however that today is me and tomorrow is you.”
