ANCONA – Yesterday the patrol police and the Polfer police of Ancona set out on the trail and in search of three subjects, all probably foreigners, perpetrators of a robbery near via Marconi. The three had been fully described by the witnesses and the applicants.
This is how the police managed to identify one after a short time, near Piazza Ugo Bassi. The young man, of North African origin but in fact an Italian citizen, tried to escape at the sight of the police, first hiding and then escaping on his bicycle. Immediately reached by the police he was taken to the police station. During the journey the young man became particularly agitated, even throwing himself at the policemen several times, fortunately without injuring them. The bicycle with which the boy had escaped turned out to be the proceeds of theft, reported only a few hours before the police arrived.
The group of three had been responsible for a robbery against a foreign person, near via Marconi. The three had approached him, first asking him if he wanted to buy one of their bikes and, subsequently, after having jerked him, they had torn off the gold chain he was wearing, and then flee. Several witnesses witnessed the scene and called the police.
One of the three was thus stopped in Piazza Ugo Bassi. The second – of Tunisian origin – was instead tracked down by Polfer staff inside the station, intent on catching a train heading north. He too was identified and taken to the police station. The third member of the group remained unknown.
The two young people were arrested and reported for aggravated robbery and for having resisted the operators and for having falsely certified their identity to the officers. The AG was notified of the arrest and arranged for it to be translated at the prison.
