«Centre-right plunging to Cosenza, Rende and Castrolibero»

COSENZA Last Friday, at the Hotel S. Francesco di Rende, the assembly of the city’s socialists was held, in the presence of the secretary of the section, Francesco Tenuta, the Deputy Secretary, Simone Fabbricatore, as well as the Regional Secretary of the party, Luigi Incarnato . Many socialist comrades were present in the room, with at their side all the socialist city councilors of Cosenza and the Councilor for Urban Planning of the Bruzio Municipality, Pina Incarnato. Agenda: the analysis of the European elections and the perspective of the city of Rende.
Secretary Tenuta introduced the proceedings, analyzing the result of the Europe and the list “United States of Europe” supported by the socialists: «We achieved a good result, only if we consider that the list we supported in the southern constituency obtained approximately 240,000 votes, of which 40,000 votes obtained in Calabria and more than half obtained in the Province of Cosenza. With an excellent success also in Rende, with almost 2000 list votes.” Two important indications emerged from the analysis of the vote: «The first is that the center-right is going downhill, especially in the cities of Cosenza, Rende and Castrolibero, which he forcibly attempts to merge, with obvious repercussions also on the possible referendum on the point. The second is that in Rende all the centre-left parties, if united, represent more than 40%. Not to consider that, together with the 5 Star Movement, it far exceeds 60%». Hence the hope of all the socialists who spoke for the near future of the city: «Today there is a need to overcome the stale analyzes of the problems, to look beyond, to talk about the future of the city, to offer a renewed perspective to Rende and the Rendezvous. And we believe that even in Rende there is a pressing political demand that must be taken into due consideration and which cannot be rejected with indifference and detachment. We have reiterated it several times: it is necessary that a common, liberal, democratic, progressive and reformist camp is outlined, starting now, open to all moderate and Catholic forces; a field that emerges from the atavistic vice of internal divisions and manages to become a plural and inclusive coalition, which develops and proposes to citizens a political offer of perspective and vision that is certainly more credible than that of the center-right, which has already launched, in the city, significant steps towards a united coalition for the next administrative elections.”

The Regional Secretary, Luigi Incarnato, concluded the proceedings: “Rende must return to the vote within the year, in November. It is synonymous with civility and democracy to give citizens back their say.

A great reformist and courageous political project must start from Rende, capable of conquering Calabria, taking it away from the selfishness of the Citadel, which is wasting precious time in deciding where to locate the hospital and has de-financed the light metro which could truly represent the most concrete opportunity for the conurbation of the entire urban area.

This journey must begin from Rende because it is the land of Cecchino Principe, the visionary, and because Rende is the most developed city in Calabria, with the university campus inside, the heritage of the citizens and of all Calabrians”.
