The alleged perpetrators of the murder of Thomas Christopher Luciani17 years old, found dead last night, among the undergrowth, in the Baden Powell park in the center of Pescara.
THE alleged murderers, two minorsaccording to what has transpired so far, one is the son of a lawyer, the other the son of a marshal commander of a local station of a municipality in the province of Pescara. After the crime they went to swim in the sea. There, presumably, they would have disposed of the knife used. Abandoned in the undergrowth, the boy’s body was found only late in the evening.
The two boys arrested for the Baden Powell Park murder did not betray emotions during the first interrogation: at the moment there were no particular reactions, essentially there was an absence of emotional empathy or repentance, this at the moment, in the next few days We will see if shock determines this state and there will be emotional changes. We learn this from investigative sources. The investigations have been coordinated since yesterday evening by the head of the L’Aquila Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, David Mancini, and by the deputy Angela D’Egidio, who yesterday carried out an inspection in the area where the murder took place.
The two were probably part of a group of seven or eight people.
There victimaccording to initial information, it would have been reached by approx 25 stab wounds. The two continued to hit him even when the young man was already lifeless on the ground.
At the origin of the facts, a drug debt of a few hundred euros: perhaps 200 or 250. It is not clear, at the moment, whether the two minors went into action with the intent to kill or whether it was an argument that ended badly.
The investigators speak of delicate situation. The crime would have taken place in the context of the small drug dealing and would have occurred with a stab wound – we think it was a diving knife given the wounds inflicted – in the late afternoon of Sunday evening in a central area of the city. The fire brigade divers are working to recover the weapon.
Meanwhile, the investigations of the mobile team of the Pescara Police Headquarters continue. The agents of the Flying Squad, the forensic police, the 118, the chief prosecutor Giuseppe Bellelli, and the medical examiner Cristian D’Ovidio also intervened on site last night in the Baden Powell park.
The dynamics
The small group of boys – the context in which the crime occurred was that of small drug dealing – reached the park. Then two of them came in and met the 17-year-old.
Having reached an unguarded area, they hit him repeatedly with a knife, presumably as a diver, given the injuries sustained by the boy.
After abandoning him in the weeds, they moved away.
The group then went to the seaside, to a beach establishment in the centre, and took a bath. There, according to the testimonies collected, the knife was abandoned. The weapon has not been found at the moment and searches by fire brigade divers continue.
The investigations launched immediately after the discovery of the young man’s body were conducted by highly specialized personnel from the Pescara Flying Squad, the Flying Squad and the Scientific Police. Throughout the night, people potentially informed of the facts and witnesses were interviewed at the police station. The images recorded by the video surveillance systems present in the area in front of the park and near a bathing establishment where all the members of the group went after the crime are also fundamental.
TO raise the alarm about the murder of 17-year-old Thomas Luciani, a few hours after the events, according to what we learned, it was one of the young people who were part of the group together with the two suspects, after understanding the gravity of the incident. At that point, the discovery of the body and the start of the investigationwhich in a few hours made it possible to identify the alleged perpetrators.
In addition to the testimony, the viewing of the images of the surveillance cameras present in the park and the bathing establishment was crucial in the painstaking work conducted by the investigators of the Mobile team of the Pescara Police Headquarters, directed by the deputy chief Mauro Sablone.
