“Is there a plan to close it? Emiliano and Piedmontese give answers”

“Is there a plan to definitively close the Foggia Fair?

President Emiliano and the Piedmontese councilor clearly answer this question because the passage of time and the need to take note of the continuous shortcomings of the Puglia Region towards the Foggia trade fair body authorizes us to think that the plan is now to liquidate it to centralize everything about Bari”.

This was stated by the regional councilor of Fratelli d’Italia, Giannicola De Leonardis, who explains: “For more than two years we have been waiting for the appointment of the new commissioner to replace the resigning one while, strangely, it recently took a handful of weeks to appoint the new board of auditors.

The Foggia Fair is based on the spirit of service of the very few employees who remain to work with dedication and manages to have a minimum amount of oxygen from the income deriving from the use of its real estate assets which, it is useful to remember, extends over an area of 20 hectares entirely owned by the Institution. An organization that has been able to attract 30 million euros of non-repayable state funding for the construction of infrastructures serving the mobility of the exhibition centre. The rest – continues De Leonardis – is abandoned to the degradation of what was a flagship for the city on a national and international level. The trade fair system has certainly been in crisis for some time and needs to be rethought. But we can and must put the Foggia Fair in a position to function continuously, become attractive, dynamic, in step with the times.

The Foggia Fair cannot be an example of the “desertification” which the centre-left regional government passively witnesses, but must transform itself into an example of “diversification” of the offer of events that put it back at the center of our economy and give it back the luster of its history”, concludes De Leonardis.
