Thunderstorms, yellow warning extended until Tuesday. Closed underpass in Pratilia towards Pistoia

Underpass in Pratilia closed in the direction of Pistoia due to the heavy rains which are also affecting our city: the bad weather is causing the first inconveniences on traffic. The municipal police are monitoring the situation of the tunnels, having reopened the one at the police station and the Pratilia lane towards Florence, after an initial closure to transit due to flooding.

Meanwhile, the regional weather room has extended the yellow alert for hydrogeological risk and thunderstorms in central-northern Tuscany until 9pm tomorrow, Tuesday 25 June.

We also note – although not directly linked to the bad weather – the flooding of a wing of the town hall. At dawn yesterday, Sunday 23 June, a pipe in the water system of the Prato municipal building broke. The point is located in the false ceiling between the council hall and the mayor’s secretariat. The water invaded the corridor of the former refreshment stand, part of the secretariat and the mayor’s room. It was a municipal employee who raised the alarm when she came into service. The fire brigade and municipal staff intervened immediately to free the premises from the water and carry out the necessary inspections to avoid damage to the structure, furniture, computers and documents. Also on site was the mayor Ilaria Bugetti, who in agreement with the Fire Brigade prohibited the use of the former refreshment room as a precaution to carry out the necessary checks on the electrical system and the false ceiling. The other rooms, including the mayor’s, were immediately usable again. The Municipality’s technicians are already at work to fix the hydraulic system with a structural intervention.
