An evening dedicated to the least fortunate, to offer a ‘gastronomic embrace’ while keeping marginalization at bay. Objective achieved for the organizers of ‘Un Minuicchio per tutti’, the solidarity event which was held on the evening of Sunday 23 June in Piazza Mercantile, in Bari. On the day dedicated to San Giovanni the restaurateurs of the ancient village – gathered in the association ‘We are in old Bari’ and the voluntary association In.Con in collaboration with the association I custodians of beauty and the Cathedral of Bari.Tra offered the homeless and vulnerable people looked after by the non-profit organization a dinner with typical dishes of tradition.
“We saw the participation of around 120 people – Gianni del Mastro, president of We are in Old Bari’, explains to BariToday – and the success of this first edition filled us with joy. The idea is to revive an ancient tradition , even if in that case it was a piece of ham that was offered. And above all we wanted to take it to the other side of the ancient village.”
A ‘charity dinner’ that turned into a community celebration that also involved passers-by, also thanks to the presence of jugglers and other street artists, because we believe it can help avoid separation. Asking for help shouldn’t be a cause for shame.”
A zero edition which for the organizers serves to take stock in view of next year – “we will certainly repeat it” – but also to mark a path for the future. “We met the mayoral candidates in recent weeks – adds the spokesperson for the restaurateurs of the old city – and we proposed to create a permanent technical table that sees us without comparison with the administration. However, we would like to become the bearers of a cultural revolution that sees more street events, because it has now been demonstrated that it is a formula that helps distance young people from the influence of crime”.
