Last week of June with double appointments at the Fem Garden of via Rocca ai Fossi for the House of Women of Ravennawhich will soon present the second part of the calendar of events in the summer garden of the House, scheduled for July and September.

Off we go Tuesday 25 July at 9pm with Melissa Turchi and its Words in grams (Morellino publisher).

The book

The Sienese writer, on her second novel, in this new work explores the family obscurities that have to deal with illness, lack of communication, inattention. It will be a grandmother and a granddaughter, kept away for too long, who rediscover a neglected family lexicon and reawaken a dormant dream. They collide to meet, through a bumpy, almost impossible, then necessary and finally fluent dialogue thanks to yeast, flour and social media. They talk with the author Luana Vacchi of the Casa delle donne of Ravenna and Cristina Fucecchi, teacher of the artistic high school of Ravenna.

The author

Melissa Turchi was born in 1972 in Siena, where she graduated in Economics and Banking Sciences from the University of Siena. She works in a bank. She has always combined numbers and scientific studies with a love for literature and writing, which she has cultivated in secrecy for years.

We then continue Friday 28 June, again at 9pm, with Brunella Torresin which he presents In the great theater of nature – Maria Sibylla Merian, a woman of art and science (Pendragon).

The book

The journalist and writer, in this work of narrative dissemination, reconstructs the professional and life path of Maria Sybilla Merian, a German artist and naturalist between the 17th and 18th centuries.

Merian managed to circumvent the limitations assigned to women thanks to study, an unshakable self-awareness and a planning vision of her work. Torresin outlines Merian with precision and intimacy, without neglecting the context in which it moves: Europe and the Netherlands of that time, their colonial history, the scientific discoveries of that era to which Merian herself made a contribution. She talks with the author, Raffaella Radi of the Casa delle donne of Ravenna.

The author

Brunella Torresin, cultural journalist, after having been editor of “La Repubblica” for a long time, now collaborates on the cultural pages and inserts of the national newspaper.
She is the author of translations and writings on theater history. She lives and works in Bologna.

In case of rain, the events are moved to the Casa delle Donne headquarters in via Maggiore 120. Consult the Casa’s social networks to stay updated on any changes.
