IT-alert, new tests in Lombardy: why, where and when the alarm will sound on cell phones

From tomorrow, Tuesday 25 June to 3 July 2024, a series of new tests with IT-alert: the aim is to perfect the use for major industrial accident and dam collapse scenarios. The regions of Lombardy and Friuli-Venezia Giulia are involved.

New tests in Lombardy with IT-alert

From 25th to 27th June and then on the day of July 3, 2024, as reported by Prima Milanotests of the IT-alert public alarm system will be carried out in the Lombardy and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions on the risk of a major accident in an industrial plant and on the risk of collapse of large dams.

A system already in operation since February 2024

The system has already been in operation since 13 February 2024 for the risks covered by the test but, in order to optimize its operation, it is necessary to carry out periodic tests. These tests are essential not only to perfect the technology in use but also to keep attention on the related risks and increase awareness among the population.

What to do when you receive the message

If the user receives an IT-alert message containing the word “TEST”, this will indicate that a check of the functionality of the system is in progress, necessary to ensure that, in the event of a real emergency, the messages are actually transmitted by telephone cells and received by devices present in the affected areas.

For the scenario of a major accident in an industrial plant the text of the notification that the affected population will receive will be the following:

On the days of the tests, from the site’s homepage you will access a dedicated page where it will be possible to view the text of the message that would arrive in the event of real danger and the link to the questionnaire that citizens in the territories involved are invited to fill out, even if not should they receive any notification.
