ANCONA – We cannot remain silent in light of the “tragic, inhumane event” that occurred in the Latina countryside. This is supported by Gas delle Marche, the solidarity purchasing groups that have created a network in the Marche region to raise awareness on certain issues but also on the benefits of collective purchasing. Which, among other things, can guide the markets. Also on respect for the human and working conditions of agricultural workers.

We are a group of people and families who have belonged to the GAS (Solidarity Purchasing Groups) of the Marche for decades.
Among the guiding principles of our purchasing groups is precisely that of giving respect and value to agricultural work, from an economic and working conditions point of view.”
Too often, in fact, «we witness episodes of exploitation and violence against people without protection, forced to work in inhuman conditions to be able to have products on our tables at low costs, behind which an uncontrolled and rights-free supply chain is necessarily hidden.
Paying 80 cents for a kilo of tomatoes must make us reflect on the importance we give to our spending and on the knowledge of the dynamics that contribute to the definition of the price of agricultural products”.
But there are alternatives: the Gas aims to make a fair purchase, for the producer, for the consumer and, last but not least, for the environment, which «clearly shows us how it is possible for everyone to buy quality products, at low prices but not resulting from the exploitation of the worker».
The S for solidarity really means paying attention to the rights of all those who build the supply chainwhich in the area has encouraged the development of numerous realities that practice organic farming.
