Double simultaneous rescue intervention on Saturday 22 June 2024 by the volunteer technicians of the Monte Falco station of the Emilia Romagna Alpine and Speleological Rescue.

The first intervention took place along path 14 which from the Fontanelle refuge leads to San Godenzo-Castagno d’Andrea, just over the border with Tuscany where a 57-year-old from Ravenna had slipped into an impervious gully but without being able to send the precise position to the rescuers. Two teams from the Monte Falco station then set out for the intervention and also activated colleagues from the neighboring Tuscan Alpine and Speleological Rescue stations in order to cover as much ground as possible to locate the missing person in the shortest time. Fortunately, shortly after the start of the search, the technicians of a Falco team identified the man who had fallen along the impassable gully: after having approached him with ropes, and having been joined by colleagues, the doctors present provided first aid. to the hiker while the technicians identified a winchable point in the woods. The man had various abrasions and trauma to his knee.

The second intervention instead took place along path 189 which from Chiardovo, in the municipality of Bagno di Romagna, leads towards Tuscany along the ridge. Three hikers were following the downhill path when one of them fell disastrously on a rock. The others immediately contacted the 118 Operations Center which activated the Monte Falco station whose technicians quickly left and arrived on site to provide first aid to the injured person (who probably had a fractured femur) as well as organizing the rescue with the 118 helicopter left from Ravenna. Once the air ambulance arrived on site, they winched the medical and technical staff to the ground who provided treatment to the hiker, stabilizing him and, supported by the Alpine Rescue technicians, they positioned the man – a 68-year-old from Reggio Emilia – on the stretcher which was then hoisted on board to be transported to the Trauma Center in Cesena.
