Messina, Rey’s difficult life: adopted, abandoned and destined for the street

Rey’s story is that of a dog on a journey and deeply disappointed, after a failed adoption. The security and love of a family, in fact, turned out to be an illusion or rather “a punishment” for this poor little dog. A four year old mongrel, chocolate coloured, beautiful, medium size (weighs around fifteen kilos) and as good as bread. Having left Messina when he was little more than a puppy, adopted by a family in Bologna who kept him for around two years, he recently found himself imprisoned in a kennel in Bari, far from his city, but, even worse, he risks ending up again road at its own mercy.
His story of suffering and disappointments – unfortunately not over – is one of those that pierce even the most impenetrable hearts. After a dark start due to the abrupt separation from his mother, who four years ago in the countryside of Falcone had given birth to sixteen puppies only to be caught and sterilised, little Rey sees the light a few months later, when he is adopted by two spouses from Bologna. The luck of having found a family makes the volunteers of the “Aipae Messina Cuccioli Rescue” association rejoice. In fact, the dog was the only one of the brothers who had not yet been adopted. But suddenly the couple separates. Rey leaves Bologna and moves to the province of Bari with his owner deciding to return to his hometown, but not being able to keep him because he doesn’t have a home of his own, she decides to place him in a shelter in the area, initially paying a fee of 150 euros per month. An expense that the woman is no longer able to bear, endangering the safety of the dog who will have to leave the kennel, ending up on the street. An eventuality to be avoided. For this reason, Aipae Messina with the manager Cristina Lombardo, who has the story and the fate of Rey very much at heart having followed his story from the beginning, after having appealed to the sensitivity of the owner of the refuge, has taken action for a collection of funds.
