The youth aggregation center is born – Pescara

QUILLS. The former Sert in via Caselli a Penne, closed for over 10 years, is ready to be reborn. The structure will become a youth meeting center, after-school club and family center. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for next Thursday.
The initiative was carried out by the councilor for social policies of the municipality, Emidio Camplese, in agreement with Ecad Vestino. To ensure that the building could become functional again, an intervention was necessary, financed through support received from the presidency of the regional council.
The structure, which has a bathroom for disabled people, a bathroom and four rooms, has been refurbished from the point of view of the systems and has been furnished and repainted inside. It has been equipped with a relaxation area including table football, ping pong table and stationery items. «The structure will be organized with fixed activities, with social workers and psychologists available to users», explains Camplese. «Every day the structure will have its own functionality: youth meeting centre, with recreational activities, family center at set times with social workers and psychologists available, and after-school club with qualified educators. I thank the councilor Chiara Severo for their constant work, the social workers and all those who have collaborated and will collaborate in the success of the centre. A big thank you also to Ecad 19 and the mayor of Penne.”
All the activities of the community center will be open to users of all the municipalities of Ecad Vestino 19: Carpineto della Nora, Civitella Casanova, Collecorvino, Farindola, Loreto Aprutino, Montebello di Bertona, Penne, Picciano, Vicoli and Villa Celiera.
«Thanks to careful synergistic work, with the local health authority which granted us the structure on loan for free use, we managed to recover a damaged property and make it functional for the community», continues Camplese.
«I thank the president of the regional council Lorenzo Sighs, for having financed the renovation work on the property and thus giving life to this project. All activities will be free. From a social point of view it is a very important result. It’s been many years since Penne had a youth center that was free and accessible to all. The last one was located in Sant’Agostino and was closed in 1996 after opening in around 1991″, concludes the municipal councilor.
