The 25 years of one piecethe 40th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons20 years of the Music area and 100 years of Giacomo Puccini: Lucca Comics and Games 2024 started the engines under the sign of contamination between the arts.
The presentation of the 2024 edition took place, for the first time, in Florencein the headquarters of the Giunti Odeon bookshop.
The Tuscan capital hosted the press conference which, like every year, officially starts the countdown in view of the event which will be held in Lucca from October 30th to November 3rd.
3 POSTERS FOR LUCCA COMICS AND GAMES 2024
At the center of the event was the presentation of the manifesto.
And here the first news arrived immediately.
This year in fact Lucca Comics and Games posters will be 3, in homage to the 100th anniversary of the composer Giacomo Puccini. The master makes them Yoshitaka Amano.
Each image will be linked to an opera by Puccini: the first, Overtureis dedicated to Tosca; the second, which will be presented in September, at Madame Butterfly; the third, which will be unveiled on October 30th in Lucca, will be inspired by Turandot.
The posters will embody the claim of this edition “The Butterfly Effect”, representing not only the link with Piccinina’s work but above all the ability of Lucca Comics and Games to connect the different arts together, provoking the so-called butterfly effect.
Amano will also be the protagonist of the second surprise of this year, the exhibition dedicated to him “THEY LOVE CORPUS ANIMÆ “which will be set up at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan from 13 November 2024 to 1 March 2025. Over 100 works that will offer a complete overview of the artist’s work, highlighting his ability to merge Anime, Videogames and contemporary art.

Among all the return of Netflix it will present SQUID GAME 2. Thursday 31 October the creator, writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk and the protagonists Lee Jung Jae And Wi Ha-Jun they will be in Lucca to meet the fans.
Also announced are the first initiatives for the 25 years of One Piece. They will participate in Lucca Tatsuya Nagamine (director of the last years of One Piece and previously of many other TOEI titles, including Dragon Ball Super: Broly) and Kenji Yokoyama (historical animator from the first episodes to today). In addition, initiatives are also planned at the TOEI Animation stand that will be announced in the coming weeks.
There are two tributes dedicated to 40 years of Dungeons & Dragons. For the first time it will be exhibited Koder Collection, with original masterpieces by Larry Elmore, Jeff Easley, Clyde Caldwell, Keith Parkinson, Brom, Todd Lockwood, in the exhibition “Gateway to Adventure: 50 Years of D&D Art”.
Furthermore, the municipal administration of Lucca will name the basement of the bastion San Paolino, after Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, creators of the saga. Finally it will be present in Lucca Jeremy Crawfordlead rules designer of Dungeons & Dragons and lead designer of the new 2024 Player’s Handbook.
GRAPHIC NOVELS, COMICS AND MANGA
As far as the world of comics is concerned, the master will come from Japan Kazu Kibuish, author of graphic novels. The exhibition at Palazzo Ducale “Kazu Kibuishi: spells on paper” will be dedicated to the artist. From the USA, however, there will be Scott Snyder considered one of the most famous and appreciated writers of contemporary comics (We Have Demons, Clear, Night of the Ghoul, Nocterra, Wytches as well as Undiscovered Country) and Peach Momoko author of numerous covers for some of the best-selling Marvel titles.
For the world of manga, the first four Sensei have finally been announced. Atsushi Kamijo author of Mob★Hunter, SEX, Aka x Kuro and 8-Eight-; Gou Tanabeknown to the general public for dedicating his career for twenty years to transposing the works of HP Lovecraft into manga; Yuto Tsukuda And Shun Saeki, authors of the manga Food Wars! which has been adapted into various media in Japan.
GREAT CONCERT FOR 20 YEARS OF THE MUSIC & COSPLAY AREA
The Music & Cosplay area which celebrates 20 years has also been confirmed. A concert is planned to celebrateTwenty years and then…”on the main stage the November 2nd at 9pmwith many important names.
Among these Cristina D’Avena, Giorgio Vanni and Max Longhi, Enzo Draghi, I Cavalieri del Re, Vince Tempera, Gli Oliver Onions, Douglas Meakin of Superobots and Rocking Horse and many others.
EARLY BIRD FROM 1st TO 16th JULY
While waiting for the other news, which will be announced in September at the press conference in Milan, the early bird sale of tickets and season tickets at reduced prices will start in the next few days.
