Piedmont, half a million more employed in a year

The world of work in Piedmont is smiling. Istat data shows that in 12 months, from April 2023 to April 2024, the number of employed people in our region grew by as much as 516 thousand units, with growth of 2.2%: no one did better in Italy. At the same time, the number of unemployed decreases while the number of inactive people remains substantially stable.

Another positive fact: the increase involves men, women and all age groups. «These are undoubtedly positive data which highlight the importance of the contribution made by artisans and micro and small businesses – explains Delio Zanzottera, Regional Secretary of CNA Piemonte -. The data on young people is less positive, as they should be the subject of more targeted policies also to guarantee that generational transition strongly desired on many occasions by CNA Piemonte”.

So everything is fine? Not exactly. Because if it is true that the employment data are positive beyond the most optimistic forecasts, the sore point remains regarding the widespread concern of artisans, micro and small businesses for the future. «What is frightening – continues Zanzottera – is above all the international tensions and the uncertainty about the economic policy prospects. We hope that with the renewed institutional roles of Piedmont decided at the polls, we will be able to continue the fruitful dialogue that has seen CNA Piedmont always in the front row to propose and discuss the best measures for artisans and micro and small businesses”.
