The Music Festival is celebrated every year on the occasion of the summer solstice, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Italian Representation of the European Commission, the SIAE and the RAI.
Acireale could not miss this invitation and thanks to the help of Dr. Simona Postiglione, President of the Culture Commission, the Ionian city will organize the early summer concert.
This initiative, together with many other valuable ones, was announced this morning during the press conference on Acireale Estate 2024, held at the Palazzo di Città.

“A decidedly rich program,” councilor Enzo Di Mauro tells us, “a tiring job of fine-tuning the events, which has come to a conclusion and which today we officially presented to the City. A program that will see the involvement not only of the historic center but also of the hamlets, at sea and upstream, in the unfolding of events.
The Summer Solstice Concert is the first event of the rich summer program of Acea, presented today to the City.”
The councilor informs us Simona Postiglionepresident of the Culture Commission and active part of the organization of the Summer Solstice Concert, which will be held tomorrow at Villa Belvedere at 5.30.
“With councilor Di Mauro and mayor Barbagallo we evaluated the opportunity to resume the interesting format of the dawn concert. Format already used previously but enriched with a new look and contextualized with the Summer Solstice, on the occasion of the Music Festival.
On June 21st, the day of the summer solstice, the Music Festival is celebrated throughout Italy. In the wake of the experience started by the Bellini Foundation during the first Barbagallo Administration, we wanted to resume this tradition. And we have entered our city in the 2024 Music Festival contest at a national level”.

Participation in this contest – he adds – allows us to give visibility to Acireale in the Italian musical panorama. And also to create a captivating appointment, to be repeated over the years. The setting for the concert, which will take place tomorrow morning at 5.30 am, at dawn, will be the Belvedere of the Villa in Acese. The suggestive colors of the dawn will frame the persuasive voice of Rita Botto and the multi-instrumentalist Puccio Castrogiovanni. There will be Marco Corbino on guitar and Salvo Farruggio on percussion, instrumentalists of the group Lautari, in a folk and author repertoire.”
Particular praise goes to Dr. Simona Postiglione for the effectiveness of the initiatives indicated above. And also for the coherence of all the activities proposed during her mandate, always in line with the objectives of the Municipality. This event stands out in the already composite cultural panorama of the city and gives the territory a heterogeneous identity and value.
