Bologna has announced that Claudio Rivalta will be the new coach of the Primavera team. Rivalta has signed a contract that will tie him to the club until 30 June 2026, with an option for a further season. Born in Ravenna on 30 June 1978, Rivalta has just celebrated his 46th birthday. His experience as a player began in the youth team of Cesena, where he made his professional debut in the 1995-1996 season. During his career as a footballer, he became a prominent figure for Cesena before moving to other clubs such as Perugia, Vicenza, Bergamo, Turin and La Spezia, where he concluded his competitive career. Furthermore, he won the Under 21 European Championships with the Italian national team in Slovakia in 2000. After retiring from playing football, Rivalta began a career as a coach. He started in the youth sector of Cesena, taking care of the Giovanissimi and Primavera teams under the guidance of Luigi Piangerelli, currently responsible for Bologna’s grassroots activities. In 2018, Rivalta moved to Spal, a club where he coached various youth categories, from Under 15 to Under 17. In 2022 he moved to Juventus where he first led the Under 16 and then the Under 17 in last season. “There is great enthusiasm – his first declarations as rossoblù coach – as well as a great desire to improve all aspects linked to our Primavera. We are planning the season to come, the staff and I have great harmony with the management: we want to have fun, grow together and do the best for the boys. I want a proactive team that knows how to dominate game situations: in agreement with the club, we set ourselves the objective of preparing the boys for the world of the first team neophyte in the Youth League, therefore with curiosity, enthusiasm, maximum determination to do well and with the ambition to compete and move forward on the path. Entering as spectators does not satisfy us.”
