The sultry heat did not discourage the citizens dthe Caltavuturos who have demonstrated great sensitivity towards prevention. Many have boarded the camper of the Palermo ASP on the occasion of the traveling Open day organized by the health authority of the capital in collaboration with the local municipal administration.
In Piazza San Francesco the flow of people was continuous so much so that, in 7 hours of activity, 308 services were provided. The number of tests for the screening of sexually transmitted infectious diseases is almost a record: 37 samples that will be used to evaluate possible Hepatitis C, Syphilis or HIV infections. However, 35 mammograms were carried out on board the dedicated camper, 14 Pap Tests (for cervical cancer screening) and 33 Sof Tests were distributed to search for occult blood in the faeces, as part of colorectal cancer screening.
The cardiovascular prevention clinic encountered huge demand from the population, closing the day with 105 services, while in the pediatric area, 38 tests were carried out for visual and speech screening and 23 vaccinations were administered. Also present in Caltavuturo were the stray dog prevention workers and those from the administrative desk with 23 services in total.
The Caltavuturo stage was the twentieth in just over 2 months on the journey of prevention strongly supported by the General Director of the ASP of Palermo, Daniela Faraoni. There are over 7 thousand services provided, but the goal of the manager of the health company is to bring the screening campers to all the municipalities of the province within the year.
The itinerant activity will continue on 6 and 7 July in Lampedusa (on the occasion of Lampedus’Amore) and on 11 July ad Feed it.
