Mushrooms and molds that become art and «Final Critics»: two exhibitions at Carme

It was inaugurated tonight at 6pm double exposure from Carme: for the weekend between 21st and 23rd June the space in via delle Battaglia 61/1 (the former church of saints Philip and James) hosts theSantaGiulia Academywhich makes two projects by male and female students available to the public.

The first is really particular: it is entitled «Contaminazioni» and presents works of art made with fungi and mold derived from Brescian waste. The exhibition is in collaboration with the University of Brescia: the students worked on some waste materials provided by A2A (urban and agro-industrial waste), processing them biologically and providing them to the artists of the academy. The latter in turn transformed fungi and mold into art objects. The project will also become a scientific publication drawn up in tandem by universities and academia, to think about the sustainability and reuse of organic resources.

«Final Critics» it is instead the exhibition visible in the main room and concerns the students of the two-year Contemporary Visual Arts course. In recent days, their works have been observed behind closed doors by some art critics (the critic Ilaria Bignotti, the gallerist Federico Rui and the collector Andrea Boghi) in order to stimulate discussion and put the students to the test. Now the works are also visible to the wider public: until Sunday 23 June from 3pm to 10pm Carme will remain open with free access.
