CARRARA. Commerce in mourning for the death, at the age of 80, of Vittorio Aprili, pioneer of the Via Roma Gallery, also known for his many civil battles in defense of healthcare. He also had a spirit of solidarity, he dedicated himself to humanitarian initiatives, such as facilitating drinking water in African countries. Another figure of Carrara from the golden years, when the city was a protagonist in trade, who is leaving.

“His” battles

Vittorio Aprili was not resigned to the decline of the centre, among the many causes he had correctly identified the impoverishment of the hospital, first with the closure of the birth center, then with the total closure. He had fought like others for the defense of healthcare and to obtain at least the clinic, with great determination, alongside the “Ernesto Frediani” association, with Attilio Bonaldi, Renzo Giusti, also deceased.

The Commerce

In business, as mentioned, he had been a protagonist of the Gallery with Pretini Giocattoli together with his wife Roberta and then, a pioneer of mobile telephony, in ’92 he had the intuition to open Mondial Toys, accompanying the mobile phone boom step by step. As a historic trader he had also been awarded at the Chamber of Commerce. He leaves behind his wife Roberta (born Anna Maria), his children Nicola and Patrizia, his grandchildren Matteo, Noemi and Diletta; he had recently become Achille’s great-grandfather. The funeral will be held on Saturday 22 June at 10am in the church of San Francesco.

The memory of her granddaughter

The granddaughter writes Naomi: «Hello my grandfather, teach the angels to give toys to children, to cultivate your imagination and to embody the entrepreneurial spirit. He shows them the amazement at a nest and continues to make the world a better place even from above. I remember one of the last times I asked you: “Aren’t you afraid to leave?” You replied: “I can’t be afraid if I know that in an unknown part of the world, in Africa, children drink clean water. I will stay anyway”. Now go back to your blue island, the one you left many years ago when you woke up after a coma. Your happy island of Paradise awaits you, and I am sure that you will bring even more joy to all its inhabitants. Your spirit will continue to inspire, enlightening everyone you meet along the way, wherever they may be.”
