Biomethane, Portesani definitive: never the plant wanted by A2A

The latest position taken by Alessandro Portesani, candidate for mayor of the centre-right, a few hours after the electoral silence, is still on the topic of biomethane.
And it takes inspiration from the reasons that led the Services Conference to stop the project to build the plant in the area between Cremona and Gerre de’ Caprioli.

“The only truth that Andrea Virgilio said about the A2A biomethane plant on the outskirts of the city is that if he is mayor he will build that plant. Cost that cost. Even trampling on the opinions of the municipalities and those of the citizens and committees. The people of Cremona know this at the time of the vote. The rest is a pile of lies”, attacks Portesani.

“Let’s start with the first one. Virgilio had explained that Legambiente was in agreement with the plant: nothing could be further from the truth. The association has confirmed that it is of the opposite opinion”, insists Portesani. “In the chorus of his latest interviews, Virgilio babbled in a smoky manner about codes and codicils. But the reality is simple and it all emerged in the recent services conference. In its opinion, the ATS explains that the health impact assessment is missing. And this is not just a problem of changing healthcare projects. A2A did not send any document explaining what the health impact on the population will be.”

“Then there is the question of the municipalities. Starting from those bordering the municipality of Cremona. Gerre and Bonemerse issued their denials precisely on the lack of the health impact assessment with an epidemiological approach not carried out by A2A. It is almost self-evident that the multi-utility will behave in the same way in the future too,” explains Portesani.

“Another chapter of the mayors is the one referring to the municipalities of Plis: Park under the direct competence of the candidate Virgilio. The first citizens of Castelverde, Spinadesco and Sesto ed Uniti express great concern about this plant in their three letters. The PLIS of Cremona, or Virgilio, does not analyze the political and territorial consequences but stops at merely technical aspects and gives a different evaluation from the other mayors”.
“Then there is the Province of Cremona which is the one that expressed a very harsh opinion against the entire operation wanted by Virgil; other than just technical factors. What is certain is that if I am the mayor, I will do everything within the municipality’s ability to ensure that the biomethane plant is not built: with all due respect to all those who sold Cremona to the multi-utility. There’s a change of scenery now,” concludes Portesani.
