The Era Volleyball Project challenges the national under 22 team of Japan

Thursday 4 July in Pontedera the boys of Pontedera Wolf Group they will meet the Japan U-22 national team.

“A dream that becomes reality – they announce -. It is with great emotion that we announce a an event that we could define as ‘epic’ for our society: we will host a Japanese representative in the ‘land’ of the Japanese of Pontedera. The closing of a circle, the beginning of a new principle. In this year in which the city wanted to pay tribute to those magnificent boys who composed the legendary Zoli formation, commissioned by Don Vasco Bertelli in the 1950s, and who soon became a symbol of ‘revolution’ in volleyball at the time thanks to the adoption of a game system based on the typical style of Asian training”.

“After the fantastic evening that saw us face the very strong boys of Lewis University Men’s Volleyball, last summer, we decided to give our fans and the entire Valdera area (and not only) a test match of the Japanese men’s national under 22 team. A worthy conclusion to a fundamental year for the Valdera men’s volleyball movement… a splendid start to think about and build the new competitive season. The Japanese collegiate team will first be guests of the Pontedera municipal administration for a welcome greeting and then visit the recently inaugurated mural dedicated to the Japanese of Pontedera. The two delegations will then move to the Bellaria sports center where the test match will be held. Warm-up begins at 7:30 pm”.

This stage of their European tour will be an opportunity to see up close a volleyball school of great tradition that has been able to produce technically sensational players such as Ran Takahashi, Yuki Ishikawa, Yūji Nishida who delighted our eyes in the last Credem Banca Super League championship . But first of all it will be, in full style Era Volleyball Projecta beautiful celebration of friendship and sport.”

Match starts at 8:30 pm. Free entry.
