The Regional coordinator of professional condominium administrators Vito Miriello wrote to Prefect of Rome and to the prefectural commissioners of Anzio and Nettuno to alleviate the situation, very serious for some, of water disconnections in condominiums.
“The situation that has arisen in the municipalities of Anzio and Nettuno and surrounding areas – they wrote in the letter sent to the authorities – with the interruption of the water supply of numerous condominiums by the manager Acqualatina spa, it has created serious inconvenience to citizens, first of all from a health point of view, water also closed to elderly people over ninety and disabled people, and the second of social injustice, knowing the condominium problems with virtuous condominiums and defaulting condominiums.
Over the years the manager has not facilitated the separation between condominium users and private ones and only in the last year, after ARERA’s warning, did the problem arise when the situation became burdensome for many condominiums, especially in low-cost and popular housing , not to mention the annual increases in the service, the adjustment invoices even with previous prescribed periods.
Given that water is an essential common good and that the manager must rightly have the payments for the service, it must equally rightly be remembered that the manager operates in a monopoly and has a public and social function and that he is not equally diligent in the case of interventions for reports of water leaks or clogged sewers and flooding.
We believe that with a sustainable and acceptable economic plan for the repayment of arrears, a reduction of interest only to legal levels and not higher additions. in addition to a contemporary plan for the arrangement of the systems, it can guarantee both the manager but above all numerous citizens.
We ask for a discussion table between Your Lordship, the manager Acqualatina spa, the condominium administrators and all the interested categories to find an urgent, rapid and definitive solution in everyone’s interest, with an immediate cessation of the activities of suspension of supplies in waiting for the definition of the framework”.
