Pain from the news of the passing of Tommaso Staianoformer mayor of Massa Lubrense as well as Councilor and President of the Mountain Community.
There were many messages of condolence on social media in memory of such an important figure for the city.
The mayor of Massa Lubrense Lorenzo Balducelli expresses his pain and closeness to his family: «A sad day for Massa Lubrense. Former mayor Tommaso Staiano has passed away. Mayor from 1985 to 1995, councilor and municipal councilor several times, president of the Sorrento Peninsula Aqueduct Consortium, councilor and president of the Mountain Community. An entire life dedicated to politics and to Massa Lubrense lived as a protagonist. At almost 89 years of age, a central figure in the civic life of our land passes away. A life always lived among people with great passion. To his daughter Giovanna, our vice mayor, to his wife, children and all relatives, my personal condolences, from the entire Municipal Administration on behalf of the citizens of Massa Lubrense”.
And again the fond memory of Raffaele Lauro: «The passing of Tommaso Staiano deeply saddens me for the feelings of profound friendship, mutual esteem, constant loyalty and active collaboration that have characterized and enriched our human relationships for years, even when I moved to Rome, as well as the bonds between our families. With him another rich, irreplaceable and effective figure of local administrator of the Sorrento Peninsula and of the city of Massa Lubrense disappears, whose administrative action has always been inspired, without frills, without false promises and without bar talk, by the concreteness of doing and to the rapid solution of problems, whether small or large, at the service of the administered community: “his” people. I would like to remember him, in this sad moment of earthly detachment, of “his” being and always feeling, on every occasion, an authentically popular expression of “his” wonderful land of Massa, much loved, and of the people of “his” country without distinction of class or culture. A man of yes or no, never of maybe, to the point of appearing almost gruff, completely unavailable to the habit of deception which, unfortunately, thrives more and more in the current decadence of the political class. He leaves not only a legacy of affection to those who knew and respected him, but also a precious political legacy to his daughter Giovanna, who continues his moral legacy, with rigor and a spirit of service. Together with my brother Giuseppe, I embrace, in the comfort of the Christian faith, in a fraternal embrace, my wife, children and all my relatives, as well as the Mayor and the Municipal Administration of Massa Lubrense.”
And again the words of Action in Municipality: «Our deepest condolences to the deputy mayor and his family for the loss of his father and former Mayor of Massa Lubrense, Tommaso Staiano».
And the condolences ofArcheclub Lubrense: «Despite being aware of his precarious health conditions, Tommaso Staiano’s passing took us by surprise and, although he has been out of the political scene for years, leaves an unfillable void in all of us. There will be time and opportunity to evaluate the work of Tommaso Staiano, Administrator and Mayor, but we at the Archeoclub can only underline the excellent collaborative relationship that we have always had during his union and the sincere friendship that has existed with our Don Peppino.”
Proximity also from Francesco Micciopresident of the Meta City Council: «On behalf of the entire Municipal Council of Meta, I express deep condolences to my friend Giovanna Staiano, deputy mayor of the municipality of Massalubrense, for the passing of her father, Tommaso, former mayor of Massalubrense from 1985 to 1995».
