“I firmly pursue the desire to have an increasingly accessible Calabria measures approved by the Council go exactly in this direction. THE summer connections, the redistribution of kilometers with a view to efficiency and the preparation of guidelines for life projects for people with disabilitiesconcretely represent actions that are transformed into greater services and connections for citizens”.
“Tangible actions carried out in the name of responsibility, which will have positive effects on the entire Calabrian territory and on the many tourists who visit are preparing to experience and discover our wonderful region”. This is what the councilor declares Emma
Staine at the end of today’s session of the Regional Council, during which they were some important measures relating to social policies and transport were approved.
Full integration of disabled people
In particular, with regards to welfare, the “Guidelines” for the drafting of the “Life projects for people with disabilities”to achieve full integration
of disabled people referred to in article 3 of law 5 February 1992, n. 104, in the context of family and social life, as well as in the courses of school, professional and work education, which the Municipalities, in agreement with the local Health Authorities, to finance within the available resources and based on the plans of the area.
The Calabria Region, having identified the need to draw up documents to
order to standardize the activation of individual life projects throughout the Calabrian territory, and thus respond to the needs of all citizens who turn to the professional social services of the Territorial Areas, shared with all the stakeholders (Municipalities, Asp, Associations of Disabled, Third Sector) the “Guidelines” for the drafting and approval of life plans.
Significant increase in transport
With the adoption of resolutions relating to the transport sector a rebalancing of the provision of urban public transport services was carried out, redistributing the services equally across the territories. In no case has there been a substantial reduction, even in the face of appreciable reductions in the resident population, while it is significant the increase in services in the city of Corigliano-
Rossano with almost 100,000 more bus km per year, equal to an increase of approximately 20%.
With the second resolution the connections between Vibo Valentia and the knot of Lamezia Terme on public holidays, to guarantee a minimum quantity of connections even on these days. With these remodulations, without changing public spending, better services are now guaranteed to the citizens of Corigliano-Rossano and Vibo Valentia, and historical critical issues in public transport are filled.
Additional public transport
Furthermore, the Regional Council approved a program of services additional public transport, both rail and roadwhich for the summer period (July/September) will be carried out throughout Calabria. From all the Calabrian airports there are four additional daily bus connections (two outbound and two return), to all the coastal areas of Calabria and the towns of
mountain tourism, such as Camigliatello, Lorica and Gambarie.
The connection between Lamezia Terme airport and the railway station has been strengthened. More connections will serve the city of Cosenza, the Sanctuary of San Francesco di Paola and Castrovillari; in the South, transfers with Sicily have intensified through the port of Villa San Giovanni.
Finally, there will be four additional rail links on the Coast of the Gods railway line, to connect the towns of Lamezia, Pizzo, Vibo, Tropea, Ricadi, Nicotera in the evening hours of Friday and Saturday, in the months of July and August. Some of these links they will continue southwards to Reggio Calabria.
