The Bergamini murder on Unomattina estate crime: “The city of Cosenza and its fans also deserve justice”

Today’s episode of the new “crime” column on Rai 1 was dedicated to the murder of Denis Bergamini, within the popular program Unomattina estate, edited by the director of the investigative journalism laboratory Alessandro Politi and by the criminologist Anna Vagli with the collaboration of the lawyer Gian Ettore Gassani.

Alessandro Politi had already dealt with the Bergamini case when he worked on “Le Iene”, a few years ago, and in today’s episode of his new column he summarized in a brilliant and tight manner these very long 35 years without justice. He made Raiuno viewers listen to the dramatic testimony of the person who, immediately after the events, had spoken to the truck driver driving the vehicle that would have hit Bergamini and who instead justified his fear by saying that the boy “was already on the ground”. And that he had seen and heard Isabella Internò, now accused of complicity in multi-aggravated voluntary manslaughter, scream while two men forcibly loaded her into a black car.

Politi also summarized the most striking contradictions of the investigations, starting from the state of Denis’s shoes and watch and his clothes incredibly burned a few hours after the murder to continue with what really happened in the Trebisacce mortuary when no one doctor signed a completely false cadaveric inspection to arrive at the mysterious phone calls received by Denis in the last days and up to a few hours after his death and the exhumation of Denis’ body strongly desired by the Bergamini family’s lawyer, Fabio Anselmo, and the discovery – thank you to glycophorin – that Denis was killed by violent mechanical asphyxiation.

Donata Bergamini, interviewed by Politi, has never given up and in all these years she has always fought for there to be justice for her brother and now that we have arrived a few days before the sentence, which will be pronounced next July after the indictment of the pm, the conclusions of the civil party and the arguments of the defence, he hoped that the Court of Assizes of Cosenza would fully fulfill its duty.

Lawyer Gian Ettore Gassani underlined that not only the Bergamini family deserves justice but also the city of Cosenza and its great fans. The criminologist Anna Vagli concluded by stating that “the injuries do not have a statute of limitations”. Prosecutor Luca Primicio’s indictment will begin at the hearing already scheduled for July 8th.
