On Wednesday 26 June, at 5.30 pm, it will be presented in Rome, at the Senate of the Republic – Sala Caduti di Nassirya (Palazzo Madama, 11) Walks through the Abruzzi during the Pentecost week of 1871 by Ferdinand Gregorovius (1821-1891), volume edited and translated by Prof. Barbara Delli Castelli, professor at the “G. D’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara.

Walks through the Abruzzi by Ferdinand Gregorovius is part of the “Comete” series. Scie d’Abruzzo” by Ianieri Edizioni edited by Peppe Millanta, writer from Abruzzo. The collection dedicates twelve volumes to travel literature and the itineraries of historians and writers who between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries ventured to discover a wild land such as Abruzzo. Professor Delli Castelli will discuss it together with Ugo Perolino, director of the Department of Modern Languages ​​and Literatures (G. D’Annunzio University) and the Wanderjahre, the pilgrimages that the German historian followed in the land of Abruzzo. The journalist Alessandra Renzetti moderates.

Gregorovius visited Italy in the nineteenth century, in the wake of Grand Tour and he was particularly impressed by it, to the point of remaining there for more than twenty years: among his excursions, the Walks through the Abruzzi they testify – with an enthusiastic and critical spirit – to an accurate and in-depth study of the landscapes, villages and history of Abruzzo.
