What words don’t say: ClassicaMente 4.0 concert at the Roman Villa of Varignano

On Sunday 30 June at 9pm the ancient oil mill of the Roman villa of Varignano Vecchio in Le Grazie will resonate with the exciting notes of the duo made up of Angela Citterio, flautist, and Emanuele Pauletta, guitarist. An extraordinary evening opening of the archaeological site to once again host the musicians who performed at the Villa in June 2023, enjoying great success with the public. Citterio and Pauletta, different generations of very talented musicians. A very rich curriculum, difficult to summarize, that of Angela Citterio. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she was a flute teacher at King’s College of Music, first flute at numerous opera companies and symphony orchestras, chosen by the main conductors, has performed in prestigious halls throughout the world. A vast repertoire of hers that ranges from jazz to chamber music. For several years she has held the role of first flute of the Pomeriggi Musicali orchestra of the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan and is a flute teacher at the Donizetti Conservatory in Bergamo.

An inexhaustible love for music and the continuous desire to learn led her to also obtain a degree in composition in March 2024, with top marks and honours, obviously. And Pauletta, born in 2000, follows her closely, despite her young age. His musical education began in his early childhood in the Suzuki School of Sarzana with the teachings of his musician mother Maria Citterio, and cultivated over the years with incredible commitment, perseverance, great determination, and a lot of study, attending numerous specialization courses and masterclasses with teachers internationally renowned to continue at the Luigi Boccherini Musical Institute in Lucca where, under the teaching of maestro Giampaolo Bandini, he graduated in October 2022 with top marks, honors and special mention. A curriculum accompanied by numerous national and international awards and recognitions including the 27th “Giulio Rospigliosi” Guitar Competition in 2023 which allowed him to record his first album “Ponce” in January 2024.

The event is part of ClassicaMente 4.0, a project of the Growing together with Music association, born from the meeting with Cristina dell’Acqua, Milanese writer, Latin and Greek teacher, promoter of classical culture, and created with the contribution of the Carispezia Foundation as part of the “Plural and Sustainable Culture” tender. A structured program that of ClassicaMente 4.0, whose initiatives are also carried out with the contribution of the Municipality of Porto Venere and the Libellula OdV, as well as the Carispezia Foundation. With the aim of promoting classical culture in its many expressions, ClassicaMente 4.0 events are proposed as real meeting places, conceived, proposed and created with the involvement of “Generation Z”, in the awareness that the Present alone is not enough to those who have the Future in their hands.

In fact, the New Borodin Trio – average age 15 years – will introduce the evening with a short performance. Trio composed of young musicians from Brescia Savva Burlacu, Odelia Ferrari and Amaranta Gregorelli who share and cultivate together the passion for chamber music. Thanks to the partnership with the Liguria Regional Museums Directorate, the Roman Villa of Varignano Vecchio in Le Grazie will host ClassicaMente 4.0 also on 29 September, with another event dedicated to the little ones. Precious opportunities to meet great performers and established musicians and get to know young emerging talents and, for those who have not yet done so, discover with the guided tour that precedes the events, an archaeological site of great value, testimony to our cultural identity and our roots. Furthermore, in conjunction with the concerts in the villa, there will be the extraordinary opening of “Il Cantiere della Memoria” in Via Libertà 119 in Le Grazie, a small museum that collects and passes on stories, tales and workers linked to the world of the sea. ClassicaMente 4.0 events are free upon payment of the entrance ticket to the Roman Villa (€3
adults/€2 reduced). Places are limited; bookable at: [email protected] or via whatsapp at 333 4101503.
