COSENZA – Here is the new rossoblu trainer. While all the fans were in front of the TV watching Italy Spain, in the evening the club made official the new Cosenza coach who signed a two-year contract. After the rumors about Paolo Bianco and Salvatore Bocchetti, the choice fell on Massimiliano Alvini, 54-year-old coach with great experience with a fluctuating trend, made up of successes and promotions, but also of bitter disappointments and dismissals as in his last season at the helm of Spezia.
The Florentine coach got it his best seasons leading Perugia in Serie B three years ago where he reached the play-offs and with Cremonese in Serie A in the 2022/2023 season. Then, theI landed at Spezia last year just relegated from the top flight, where however the Tuscan coach was sacked in November after a series of negative results. Now the new adventure with Cosenza.
This is the press release from the rossoblu club: “The Cosenza Calcio club announces that from next July 1st Massimiliano Alvini will be the coach of the Wolves! The new coach of the rossoblù, chosen for his professional and human qualities, accepted the Club’s proposal with great enthusiasm, finding the agreement valid until 30 June 2026. Mister Alvini, born in Fucecchio in 1970, has embarked on a career as a coach in 2001, accumulating experience on the amateur benches and then landing, promotion after promotion, in Lega Pro with Tuttocuoio. In 2015 he moved to Pistoiese, still in Serie C, and then to Albinoleffe and Reggiana. At the helm of the Emilians he achieved promotion to Serie B in the 2019/2020 season, bringing Reggiana back to the second division after 21 years.
After completing his experience in Emilia, the coach coached newly promoted Perugia (2021/2022 season) gaining access to the play-offs. In the 2022/2023 season Alvini led Cremonese, a team that had just been promoted to Serie A, while last season he was the coach of Spezia for 15 days.
