ORTONA – The soldiers of the Aeronaval Operations Department of Pescara, in close synergy with the territorial component of the Tenenza Corps of Ortona, conducted and concluded a complex judicial police activity which allowed the identification, in the municipality of Ortona, of a site where Inside there was an illegal body shop which, in violation of current environmental regulations, appeared to lack authorizations for the management of special waste as well as the required authorization for the emission of fumes into the atmosphere coming from the painting oven.
The investigations resulted from a collaboration with the territorial component of the Corps and through a targeted campaign of overflights carried out by the Air Section of the Guardia di Finanza of Pescara, waste in a clear state of abandonment on bare ground was identified from above. With the help of the most modern mission sensors, installed on the Corps’ aircraft, it was also possible to trace the type of illegally stored materials. The subsequent checks carried out with the support of the Ortona Municipality thus made it possible to ascertain the illicit storage of waste in violation of environmental legislation.
The activity carried out resulted in the referral of the legal representative of the company to the AG, as well as the preventive seizure of the area of a total of m2. approximately 1500 and everything present above it, for the crimes provided for by Legislative Decree 152/2006.
