Arcobaleno Families Association of Homosexual Parents, was founded in 2005, formed by LGBTQI+ parents with the aim of making our families known and fighting for the rights of our children who are still not protected by any state law today. “The parents of our association are parents who want to be visible in society and our way is simple: to make ourselves known and tell about ourselves in our simplicity. In addition to this, obviously we are often in the streets with civil society and the LGBTQI+ community to ask for human rights for us and for our children.”

“OHANA” Photographic Project by Giulia Turri
The photographic exhibition is inspired by the term OHANA, which, in Hawaiian culture means family in the broadest sense of the term, and includes the close, adoptive, or intentional relationship where at the center is the idea of cooperating and remembering each other . This word contains the meaning of that
“place” where no one is abandoned or forgotten therefore, even the image of a friendship or sisterhood that unites through deep closeness and cooperation, is the meaning of the Ohana. The basic idea is to broaden the concept of family which today favors the nuclear heterosexual family as the only absolute and universal natural system, thus excluding all other “non-normed” family forms, but which are nevertheless authentic natural human facts.
