In the trunk of the SUV with a Swiss license plate, customs officers between Como and Chiasso found 312 kilos of delicatessen, 10 liters of spirits and various foods. The discovery was made on Tuesday 11 June during a border check.

They were hidden among the trunk and the spare wheel compartment. Beyond three hundred kilos of cured meats (and to be precise 312 in total), ten liters of spirits and various foods such as salted anchovies, mushrooms, artichokes in jars and other preserves, stuck between the suitcases and obviously not declared: that’s how I am returned from holidays four men of Swiss nationality (including a 13-year-old boy) spent in Italy aboard an SUV, stop between Como and Chiasso on the morning of last Tuesday 11 June by agents of the Federal Customs Office at the motorway crossing and found with the car loaded with supplies during a simple routine border control.

The huge amount of goodsaccording to what emerged from the investigation activities, was intended for a Swiss commercial business, registered to one of the occupants of the SUV. Meanwhile, i cured meats were seized while waiting for the necessary checks to be carried out to verify that the cold chain has been respected: the owner of the public establishment will in the meantime be forced to pay a fine of several thousand francs for failure to declare food products.
