The disappointment of the traders of Corso Garibaldi
Legnano – “We invested some money, we bought the goods and called the staff, and now, a few hours after the start of the event you tell us that it can no longer take place, and for what reason: a possible shower of water around 9pm Friday night? This is all unacceptable! You traders don’t want to help them!”.
There “Night in the centre“ was expected, in Legnano, for the evening of Friday 21 June. A widespread celebration in the centre from Piazza Achilli Raoul to Corso Garibaldi. On the morning of Thursday 20th the cancellation notice due to forecasted bad weather. And it is precisely on this last communication that you give traders in Corso Garibaldi the protest arose.
“For this event- they point out– no advertising was done, much less adequate sponsorship was provided: the Municipality and Confcommercio did not help us. They clung to the excuse of bad weather, – they explain – when they knew very well that the evening would end in a flop and they didn’t want to lose the money they had budgeted but, We’re the only ones who get lost here.”
“It was clear right away – they continue – that this year the Municipality did not have much interest in wanting to propose a “White Night” again, as has been done in previous years, opting instead for 4-5 evenings of music in the centre. Then, almost by chance, only during the Press Conference dedicated to the planning of summer events, we discover that this “Night in the Center” was organized for the evening of Friday 21 June. However, the time to proceed with fair and adequate communication coverage,– they observe-, it was little now. We would have preferred – and we also asked – for a further press conference to be held, dedicated only to this event, and not for it to be combined with all the other events, thus making them lose their meaning. This is an evening that if done well and advertised correctly is a panacea for commercial establishments, however, the Municipality of Legnano ensured that this opportunity was lost.”
“They announced that it will not be possible to reschedule it in July because there is the Rugby Sound Festival; The hypothesis is circulating of postponing it to Friday 6 September, combining it with the two days of Sbaracco scheduled for 7 and 8 September: it would thus become a “hallucinating” triduum which we oppose. It’s obvious –they conclude–that something isn’t working within the Municipality.”
