Everything is ready for the 2024 edition of the Grest of the Parish of San Francesco d’Assisi in Gela, which will start on Monday 24 June at 4.00 pm with the opening of the gates and the welcome organized by the 180 animators who have joined the parish proposal summer. The theme chosen for this year is “ViaVai – You will show me the path of life”. Registrations, which opened on 3 June, were sold out within just 24 hours, and the following day the number of children who asked to participate in the summer activities had reached 250. The Grest of the parish of San Francesco did not However, it is new to these numbers: for years, in fact, it has been the only parish in the historic center to have a solid and participatory youth center and to organize the Grest, which brings together hundreds of entertainers and Grest people coming not only from the parish area but also from other neighborhoods.
The Summer Group, moreover, is an activity that crowns and closes the various activities that have been carried out throughout the year within the oratory of Piazza Padre Pio: from the human and spiritual training for adolescents and young people curated by the parish priest Don Pasqualino Di Dio, by Don Francesco and the team of trainers to the various play-recreational activities organized free of charge for catechism and non-catechism children, who flocked in large numbers from all over the city, even during the winter months, crowding the premises and the courtyard, looking for a few hours of healthy leisure and aggregation.
The Grest which will color the oratory from Monday will continue for 5 weeks and will end as usual with the great final show in Piazza San Francesco on July 28th.
