The Schifani government reconstitutes the Advisory Committee for social welfare services. In fact, during the last session, the council approved the appointment of the first two members, on the proposal of the councilor for family and social policies Nuccia Albano.
They are Giuseppe Vecchio, regional guarantor for childhood and adolescence, and Carmela Tata, guarantor for Sicily for people with disabilities. The two professionals were chosen as experts in the training of social workers.
«Through the reconstitution of the Committee, which has now expired some time ago, we want to regulate the new types of social-welfare structures and update the related services – declares councilor Nuccia Albano -. We decided to indicate Doctor Giuseppe Vecchio and Doctor Carmela Tata for the role they played and for their professionalism. In the next few days, as per the council’s responsibility, I will appoint two experts in the field of social welfare services. Also part of the Committee are four representatives of the municipal associations operating in Sicily, chosen from among the administrators in office, and two experts designated by the National Union of Charity and Assistance Bodies”.
The regional consultative committee is chaired by the councilor for family and social policies and remains in office for five years. The body is responsible for drawing up the outline of the three-year plan for social welfare services and for preparing the agreement schemes, service standards and staff training and refresher courses. Furthermore, it expresses opinions on projects for the restructuring and redevelopment of services presented by the Municipalities or other bodies operating under an agreement, intervenes on the contribution of users to the cost of services and on any other topic deemed relevant by the councilor in the sector of social services. welfare.
