Today, June 18th, just 8 months after the start of the fundraising, a precious piece of machinery was officially delivered to Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Department of the Maggiore Hospital in Novaradonated thanks to the proceeds collected from the sale of the book “Valentino Diego – True story of a premature extreme” written by his mother, Sabrina Marrano, editor of Sibillamedia, to which were added the generous donations from the solidarity running race organized by the Sports Department of the Municipality of Novara just before Christmas.

The book tells the moving story of Valentino Diego Sarchiello, born prematurely at 24 weeks of gestation and weighing only 670 grams.

The narrative highlights the importance of medical and nursing support, from its very first pages, by Dr. Maria Rita Gallina, director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Department of the hospital, now deservedly retired, who wrote about it the preface.

All proceeds from the sale of the book were used to support the department, contributing to the purchase of new equipment, in particular a new Intellivue MX100 monitor from Philipsreliable instrumentation for monitoring patients on the move with a single, portable and autonomous monitor capable of providing a greater and more detailed amount of information so as to facilitate choices, often for sudden needs, in sensitive situations such as premature births.

In addition to the family, the NICU head physician was present Dr. Marco Binotti, who had already participated with an interesting insight into the work of the Department during the presentation of the book last November 17, and the Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Novara Ivan De Grandispromoter of the Christmas race.

During the handover ceremony, hospital staff expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the donation.
