«With the arrival of summer, Via Vitrani becomes a racing track in the evening»
«Dear Editorial Staff,
It was just after 9.20pm when, while crossing the pedestrian crossing in Via Vitrani, I was almost hit by the usual pedal-assisted bike. The boy, about 18, at my complaints, tells me with a mocking smile “They won’t take me anyway”.

Not happy, thinking of intimidating me since I dared to complain, he starts walking up and down the sidewalk of Via Vitrani, always with that mocking smile of his. These criminal vehicles don’t scare me, but Via Vitrani is populated and lived in, especially in summer, by elderly people and families with children. Not everyone can defend themselves.

With the arrival of summer the street becomes a racing track in the evening. And I’m not talking about the cycle path but about the part of the sidewalk inside it. Whether they are scooters (in Barletta it is now legal for them to speed along the pavement), bikes or scooters, pedestrians, even with strollers, have to avoid them. It is useless to argue about the absence of parents and the lack of education. It is obvious that all this is missing and has been missing.

We need the State. It is unacceptable that these people can do their own thing.

And let’s put a local police patrol in the area every now and then, which at least serves as a deterrent to certain behaviors.

Before we truly become no man’s land.
Thanks for the attention”.
