Caltanissetta. Music competitions: a May full of successes for the students of the “Manzoni-Juvara” high school – il Fatto Nisseno

In the month of May, the students of the Liceo Musicale di Caltanissetta “Manzoni-Juvara” won numerous prizes and obtained recognition in the soloist and choir categories in various national and international music competitions.

All the young musicians performed various compositions from the classical, romantic and modern periods in front of highly qualified judging commissions.

The students are part of the musical instrument classes of the Nisseno high school: violin class of prof. Roberta Licalsi, piano class of prof. Paola Milazzo and the singing class of prof. Rosa Maria Chiarello. The Eutherpe Choir, with 4 odd voices and directed by Professor Chiarello, is made up of students from all the courses present: Human Sciences High School, Social Economic High School, Artistic High School and Music High School. These are the boys who with passion, perseverance and sacrifice are part of the Eutherpe Choir: Carmelinda Turco, Aurora Marchese, Elisa Tararà, Federica Tasca, Alessia Giarratana, Aurora Biancheri, Giuseppe Falletta, Matteo Stagnitto, Andrea Santoro, Salvatore Bunone, Barbara Incardona, Ginevra Franciamone, Aurora Mulè, Carla Giordano, Valeria Pace, Giorgia Middione, Mohamed Zappia, Emmanuele Lopiano, Benedetto Siciliano, Pietro Nigro, Magda Cacciatore, Marco Lopiano, Antonio Pardo, Andrea Lomonaco.

9th national music competition “Serradifalco city of music”

1st prize to the baritone Pietro Nigro 97/100, section. opera singer who performed two pieces by WA Mozart taken from Don Giovanni “Deh ordini alla finestra” and from The Marriage of Figaro “La vendetta”.

The Giulia Toscano prize 93/100 piano who played the Rondò capriccioso op. 14 by F. Mendelssohn.

1st prize Eutherpe Choir 98/100 who sang the spiritual “I’m gonna sing”, “Michelle” by the Beatles and “Gabriel’s Oboe” by E. Morricone

18th International Competition for Young Musicians

1st prize Choir 98/100 which performed from Mozart’s Requiem “Dies Irae”, the spiritual “I’m gonna sing”, “Michelle” by the Beatles and “Gabriel’s Oboe” by E. Morricone

2nd prize Carmelinda Turco Opera singing 96/100 who sang “Senza mamma” taken from Suor Angelica by G. Puccini and “A vucchella” by F. Paolo Tosti

9th National Music Competition “RAHAL, City of Salt and Music”

Third prize for Giusy Leone and Martina Maria Maira who performed Seitz’s Student’s Concerto n.2 and Concerto in B minor respectively. op 35 by O. Rieding.

Once again, music represents a great unifying moment for students, it orients them towards a possible professional path for their future and the Liceo Musicale Manzoni-Juvara confirms itself as a source of pride for the Institute and the entire Nissena community.
