For three days in Palermo there is the “Batizado e trocas de cordâo”

It begins on June 21st with a parade of Brazilian dances and music from Piazza Verdi and along Via Maqueda

Three days of activities on the street and outdoors, to “initiate” people to the art of capoeira.

From 21 to 23 June Palermo becomes the capital of Brazilian martial art thanks to the initiative of master Bira Do Santos, who organizes the “Batizado e trocas de cordâo”, or the “Baptism of the rope”.

It begins on June 21st at 5.30 pm, when the pedestrian area between Piazza Verdi and Piazza Villena (the Quattro Canti) will be transformed into a street in Salvador de Bahia, with a procession made up of Brazilian dances and music, where they will participate in the sound of music punctuated by percussion, hundreds of artists and athletes coming not only from Brazil and the rest of Italy, but also from France, Germany and Poland. The route will then return to Piazza Verdi for a group capoeira performance.

On 22 and 23 June from 9.30 am at Cus Palermo in via Altofonte 80 a series of lessons-internships dedicated to capoeira will begin. People from 3 to 50 years old can participate. Also here, on Sunday 23 June, there will be the rope delivery ceremony – basically the capoeira practitioner’s belt – and the presentation of the prizes.
