A photovoltaic system of 50,000 MWh per year, capable of providing clean energy to over 16,000 families. This is what was inaugurated on Tuesday Aprilia the society Sonnedix. For the Milanese company, the Aprilia plant is the largest plant built to date in Italy: over 30 hectares and equipped with approximately 50,000 photovoltaic modules. “Aprilia 1” is the name given to the system which significantly contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions, saving more than 25 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year thanks to solar energy.

The presentation event took place at the Calissoni Bulgari estate, in the presence of the Representative Director Italy and Head of Southern Europe Development of Sonnedix Mario Volpeof the mayor of Aprilia Lanfranco Principi, of the councilors Marco Moroni and Carola Latini. Also present were the managers of the Aprilian plant and various economic operators from central Italy.
With a capacity of 27.9 MWp, this project is not only Sonnedix’s largest installation in the country, but also a model of sustainability and innovation. “Aprilia 1” was created with the full support of local institutions, highlighting the importance of collaborations between the public and private sectors for the development of renewable energy.

Also of great importance are the opportunities for new employment, generated both by related activities and by integration with the agricultural sector. Mario Volpe Representative Director Italy and Head of Southern European Development of Sonnedix, declared: “Today, Sonnedix has almost 500 MW operational in Italy and the goal is to reach 1 GW operational in the next 18 months. We are pioneers in the creation of agricultural and solar systems, which combine the production of green energy with agricultural activities, and we want to demonstrate how innovation can integrate with tradition to create a sustainable future”.
In addition to the production of clean energy, the “Aprilia 1” project also has a positive impact on the local community. In fact, a completely public green area has been created in the municipal area, with spaces dedicated to vegetable gardens and a children’s playground.

Sonnedix continues to expand its presence in Italy and contribute to the global energy transition. With “Aprilia 1”, Sonnedix confirms its role as a leader in the renewable energy sector, providing safe, convenient and sustainable energy.

«In the province of Latina – explains Volpe – we have several plants. And others are in the pipeline. The territory, due to its morphology, lends itself easily. We found great answers. Aprilia was very helpful towards us. A particular aspect that we put into our work is that of the utmost care for human relationships.” The facility is located in Meat Camp and during the works Sonnedix found numerous war devices in the ground, dating back to the Second World War, which were removed by a specialized company. But not just business in this project: Sonnedix is in fact also carrying out compensation works for around 400 thousand euros: a green area in via Pergolesi and social gardens that the Municipality of Aprilia will entrust with a public tender”.
