A friendship pact between Pordenone and Portomaggiore

Portomaggiore. On Sunday 16 June, in Pordenone, a friendship pact was signed between the Sections of the National Bersaglieri Association, the Proloco and the administrations of Pordenone and Portomaggiore.

A project born during 2023, the year in which the newly established Bersaglieri section of Portomaggiore comes into contact with the Pordenone section, among the oldest in Italy having been founded in 1907: the inspirer of this first contact is the Pordenone municipal councilor Giovanna Favret.

The result was a collaboration that initially involves the city Proloco and also brings the municipal administrations, which have in common a long history of cities that were born as river ports, to come closer and sign a pact of friendship for the years to come.

The pact was therefore signed by the two presidents of the Bersaglieri sections, Gabriele Bui of Portomaggiore and Fiorenzo Bertoli of Pordenone; by the president of Proloco Portomaggiore Giovanna Toschi and by the vice president of the Pordenone Proloco Nadia Lorenzon; finally by the tourism councilor Morena Cristofori of the Municipality of Pordenone and the mayor of Portomaggiore Dario Bernardi, also in the presence of the association councilor Gian Luca Roma.

The presence of the regional councilor of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Cristina Amirante, also sealed the pact.

The morning opened with the laying of a wreath at the monument in Piazza Duca d’Aosta, to the tune of the fanfare of the 11th Bersaglieri regiment and in the presence of the provincial leaders of the National Bersaglieri Association.

The ceremony of the friendship pact was then held in the council room of the municipality of Pordenone, concluded by an exchange of gifts and a lunch offered by the Pordenone Proloco at the “Festa sul Nonsel”, an annual event in which all the Pordenone associations meet along the Noncello river.

There was also a delegation from the Palio Portuense in Renaissance clothes and with the banner with the insignia of the districts, which gave life to the symbolic ceremony of handing over the keys of the city of Portomaggiore to the Municipality of Pordenone.

The mayor of Portomaggiore Dario Bernardi commented: “It is an important morning for Portomaggiore in which we honor the hospitality of the city of Pordenone and give the right value to a path started by our associations, which we thank: with resourcefulness they have created bonds that enrich always a territory, in the name of solidarity and common values. The welcome was magnificent and we hope to reciprocate soon.”

Councilor Gian Luca Roma was also satisfied: “We were welcomed in a perfect manner and we saw a source of inspiration in the enthusiasm of the associations and in the spirit of pride with which they tried to build this pact: today two territories that knew little about each other are starting an important journey and we have already arranged to meet at the next ancient fair in Portomaggiore”.
