The Prefect of Savona Carlo De Rogatis, accompanied by the Chief of Staff Marcello Urso, today visited the management and the Piaggio Aerospace factory in Villanova d’Albenga. Receiving him were the Extraordinary Commissioners Carmelo Cosentino, Vincenzo Nicastro and Gianpaolo Davide Rossetti, as well as a representation of the management.

After an informal conversation with the Commissioners, the Delegation visited the production areas – both of the aircraft and engine business units – and the company’s research laboratories. The Prefect was able to note, among other things, how the Company is currently engaged in the production of the 15 P.180 aircraft intended for the Armed Forces, while research activities continue – many of which are conducted within European projects – for the development of the aircraft of the future.

The meeting was also an opportunity to update the Prefect on the status of the procedure for the sale of the corporate complexes of Piaggio Aero Industries and Piaggio Aviation, the two companies that operate under the Piaggio Aerospace brand. After the reopening of the data room in recent weeks, the parties who have expressed or confirmed their interest in taking over the company’s assets now have until June 26th to submit their respective irrevocable and binding offers, if they deem it necessary.

At the end of the visit to Piaggio Aerospace, the delegation was welcomed by the Commander of the adjacent 15th Carabinieri Helicopter Nucleus, Lt. Col. Francesco Ercolani. The 15th Unit carries out air support for all operational activities of the Territorial Army of the Liguria region.
