“Counterfeit sureties for 185 million euros”. The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Piacenza communicates through a note that: “The Guardia di Finanza, as a result of a detailed investigation activity coordinated by this Prosecutor’s Office, is executing, on the national territory, numerous orders for the exhibition of documents and seizure at the offices of various public bodies, investee companies, as well as two research bodies and a ministerial department, in order to acquire surety policies, deemed counterfeit, issued in their favor, for a total of approximately 185 million euros”.
The investigation into the false guarantee discovered in Piacenza to cover the concession fees for paid parking is therefore being broadened.
“Today’s measures were necessary following the identification of the author of the false documents and the discovery, in his availability, of substantial IT material” – reads the press release.
The activities – launched in many cities, including Piacenza, Rome, Palermo, Messina, Genoa, Florence – consist of the acquisition of documentation, presented by private economic entities, to guarantee the fulfillment of the obligations required for the awarding of contracts public works, services and supplies. “As the documents stand – writes the Prosecutor’s Office – the public bodies involved are the offended party”.
