News (publication date 19 June 2024)

The Ministry of the Interior – Department for Internal and Territorial Affairs, last 12 June, following the implementing decision of the EU Council – ECOFIN of 8 December 2023, by which the revision of the PNRR was approved Italian, has issued a Ministerial Decree with the definition of the PUI – PNRR and PUI – National funding sources for individual projects.

Based on the provisions of annex 3 to the aforementioned “PUI Detail – National” decree, three projects of the Municipality of Palermo, originally planned under the PNRR and of enormous strategic importance for the City, have been re-protected on national resources, with consequent moving the deadline between April and June 2027.

The 3 projects re-protected on national resources are:

· Seaside park at Sperone – CUP D79J22000640006 – €16,129,859.83;

· Eco-friendly redevelopment of the Bandita seafront – CUP D79J22000630006 –
€12,015,209.17;

· Redevelopment of the Bandita port and port areas – CUP D79J22000650006 –
€13,730,531.00.

«With the decree of 12 June – declares the mayor of Palermo Roberto Lagalla – the former PNRR projects on the southern coast of Palermo are covered by a more adequate source of financing, effectively ensuring their full implementation. This is a choice dictated by common sense, towards which I express satisfaction on the part of the Administration which will certainly see the creation of works that represent a historical turning point in the urban redevelopment of the city coast which will finally be returned to use after decades of neglect and abandonment. Both the Administration and the City Council, which has already approved some of the projects concerning the southern coast, are paying great attention to this area of the city and the works in via Messina Marine, awaited for years, have already started for the construction of the new sewage system which will allow the return of bathing conditions in this segment of the city’s coast”.
