Istat, Siena families subject to two social investigations

Starting from next Monday, 24 June, within the territory of the Municipality of Siena some families will be contacted by Istat surveyors for the two surveys “Citizens and free time” and “Families and social subjects”. The initiatives in Siena are part of an integrated system of social surveys (multi-purpose surveys on families) by Istat, the national statistics institute.

The collection of social survey data by Istat began on 20 May and will end on 4 August 2024. The survey began with the “Cawi” phase (from 20 May to 13 July): in this period the families selected can connect and complete the web questionnaire independently. From 24 June to 4 August, however, the “Heads/Papi” phase will take place: families who have not completed the online questionnaire will be contacted by a municipal surveyor for the face-to-face interview.

The “Citizens and free time” survey aims to deepen knowledge of the recreational and cultural activities carried out by citizens in their free time, such as sports, reading, cinema, music, the use of new technologies, amateur activities, relationships social, to understand the conditions of daily living and analyze relevant aspects of people’s quality of life. The families involved were randomly extracted from the Basic Register of Individuals (RBI).

The “Families and social subjects” survey allows us to deepen our knowledge of family structures and dynamics, through the analysis of various events and aspects of the life cycle of individuals, including relationships within the family, networks of relationships and support, custody and child care, the transition to adulthood, reproductive histories and intentions, the formation of unions, work paths, social mobility. Also in this case, the individuals involved were randomly selected by the RBI.
