The president of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani, received a delegation of IBM Italia executives at Palazzo d’Orléans made up of Daniela Scaramuccia, head of consultancy services for the public sector and healthcare, Edilia Carniti, account manager, Alessandra Santacroce, head Institutional affairs and Eraldo Beltrami, CEO of “Information Systems”, a company controlled by IBM Italia.
During the meeting, the company representatives explained to Schifani the Academy program that “Information Systems” is carrying out on the island as part of the training and development of the skills of young graduates and undergraduates in the information sector technology, with particular regard to artificial intelligence. The objective of “Information Systems” – which recognized the high preparation rate of Sicilian computer engineering graduates and students – is the valorisation of the human capital formed through the system of innovation centers distributed across the territories.
«I am pleased – said the governor – that IBM has chosen Sicily for its projects to develop the human capital of our country and that it has recognized in our young people a level of skills in technical and scientific subjects that attracts the attention of companies of such high caliber. These human resources, adequately trained, would thus be usable in our territory for projects of national caliber. We look favorably on any initiative that favors the development and growth of employment for our young people in Sicily.”
